How to install the backup client (OS X)

1) Download the backup client from our downloads page. The zip file will automatically unzip in your Downloads folder.

2) Open the InstallStoreGrid installer file to start the installation.

3) The installer will prompt you for your password to make sure you are allowed to install the client software.

4) Accept the terms and conditions to begin the installation.

5) You will be prompted for your StoreGrid ID. Set this to be something unique such as the FQDN of your machine or your email address. You must enter the Customer Name as provided to you by us. If you are wanting to install the software to try out our service, then leave the Customer Name set to Trial Customer

6) Choose either Typical or Custom installations. If you choose Typical then the software will be installed for you using standard defaults and you can go straight to step 10. Otherwise, you will see the options below.

7) If you have selected the Custom setup option then you will now be able to set the port number used by your browser to access the backup interface as well as be able to set the default logon username and password.

8) If you have selected the Custom setup option then you will now be able to set the port numbers used to connect to our backup servers. These should be left as they are as we always use ports 32004 and 32005 for server communication.

9) You will finally be asked whether you want the backup software to run as a service or an application. We would recommend a service as that will allow scheduled backup jobs to run regardless of whether you are logged on or not. However you can select as an Application if you would like.

10) Once the installation is complete you will see an icon on your desktop. Open this to load the web based interface in your browser and logon using the default username and password shown.

You are now ready to start backing up.
